Intrigued by the intricate designs and stunning use of color, I began photographing church domes during a trip to Granada, Spain. Back in Switzerland, I continued this artistic activity.
A cupola is usually a dome-shaped structure at the top of a building. The word comes from the Latin word – cupula – which resembles an overturned cup. Domes are very present in religious architecture, but they are not limited to places of worship. They can also be seen in libraries, museums and official buildings.
I printed this series on fabric, and they were exhibited at the Spanish restaurant, Au Rendez-Vous, in the 2023 Arty Show in Biel/Bienne.
